Certified Peer Support Specialists
- A Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) is an individual who has walked the road to mental health recovery and succeeded. CPSSs work alongside our mental health professionals to provide additional encouragement and support to members. These individuals have both lived with mental health challenges and have undergone specialized training to provide support to others who are going through similar experiences.
- Certified Peer Support Specialists are able to provide a unique perspective on the recovery process, pulling from their own experiences to provide practical advice, emotional support, and encouragement. They understand the importance of community inclusion, participation, and independence and work with members to identify what is most important to them in their lives. CPSSs provide this support in a variety of ways, including one-on-one coaching, support groups, and community activities. Ultimately, our team of Certified Peer Support Specialists help members build resilience, find meaning, and experience a sense of purpose in their lives.
Peer Recovery Coaches
- Peer support is also vital in helping members struggling with substance abuse achieve and maintain long-term recovery. A peer recovery coach is an individual who has successfully navigated the road to substance recovery and is trained to provide support to others going through similar experiences. They are familiar with the various pathways to recovery, including medication-assisted treatment, faith-based approaches, and 12-step programs.
- Peer recovery coaches work with our members throughout their recovery processes, providing guidance and support along the way. They offer practical advice, emotional support, and connections to recovery-supportive resources and systems, both professional and non-professional. They can help members identify their strengths, set achievable goals, and develop coping strategies to manage triggers and challenges that may arise during recovery, including relapse prevention and building a support network. The most important goal of our peer recovery coaches is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where members can receive support and guidance from others who have seen similar struggles.
